Everything Is in God's Control

There are seasons in life when it feels like everything is happening at once. The bills stack up. The garden doesn't grow the way we planned. Equipment breaks down. The animals get sick. The weather refuses to cooperate. Relationships are tested. We work harder than ever and still wonder if we're making any progress.
As homesteaders, ranchers, and hardworking families, we often carry the weight of responsibility on our shoulders. We plan, prepare, and work tirelessly to provide for those we love. While hard work is important, there comes a point where we have to recognize a simple truth:
We were never meant to control everything.
The reality is that we control very little. We can plant seeds, but we cannot make them grow. We can feed livestock, but we cannot guarantee tomorrow. We can make plans, but we cannot know what the future holds.
Yet there is great comfort in knowing that God does.
Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 19:21:
"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."
That can be difficult to accept when things aren't going the way we expected. We naturally want answers. We want timelines. We want certainty. We want to know why challenges happen and when they will end.
But faith is trusting God even when we cannot see the whole picture.
Think about the farmer planting in the spring. He places seeds into the ground and waits. He cannot see what is happening beneath the soil. Day after day, there may be no visible change. Yet growth is taking place. Roots are forming. Life is developing.
Our lives are often much the same.
Sometimes God is working beneath the surface in ways we cannot yet understand. What appears to be a setback may actually be preparation. What feels like a delay may be protection. What seems like failure may be guiding us toward something better than we could have imagined.
Looking back on our lives, many of us can identify moments that didn't make sense at the time. Doors closed. Plans fell apart. Opportunities disappeared. Yet years later we can see God's hand guiding us exactly where we needed to be.
The challenge is trusting Him before we have the benefit of hindsight.
Living in faith doesn't mean we stop working. It doesn't mean we stop planning. It doesn't mean we sit back and do nothing.
It means we work diligently while surrendering the outcome to God.
We plant the garden, but trust God with the harvest.
We raise our children, but trust God with their future.
We build our businesses, but trust God with the results.
We face uncertainty, but trust God with tomorrow.
There is incredible freedom in letting go of the need to control every detail. When we remember that God is sovereign, we can trade anxiety for peace and fear for faith.
The storms will still come. The challenges will still arise. Life will remain unpredictable.
But our confidence is not found in perfect circumstances.
Our confidence is found in the One who holds all circumstances in His hands.
So if you're walking through a difficult season today, take heart. The God who created the mountains, the oceans, and every living thing has not forgotten you. He sees your struggles. He knows your needs. He understands your fears.
And He is still in control.
Even when life feels uncertain, God's promises remain certain.
Trust Him with the things you cannot control.
After all, He never lost control in the first place.
